Volunteer

Get involved!

There are many levels which you can get involved with vaulting as a parent or fan.

A word about competitions. All clubs are required to contribute volunteer hours at competitions based on the number of vaulters that are competing from the club. You can sign up for competition volunteer duties on the AVA Compweb site, generally beginning a couple of weeks before the competition. For most jobs, no experience is required.

Our club, Mile High Vaulters operates as a team and a not-for-profit organization without any paid employees. This means that having help from vaulters, parents and friends is critical to our ongoing success. There are needs for every skill set and you do not need to be a “horse person” to help. Below are some of our current needs for volunteers:

Role Description
Recruiting chair Drive membership growth and maintenance in the club
Fundraising chair Identify and coordinate opportunities to raise money on behalf of the not-for-profit
Webpage administrator Help maintain MHV’s online presence including the website, email distribution list, Facebook page, and Youtube channel. Knowledge or interest in website administration. No experience necessary
MHV volunteer coordinator Ensure that Mile High Vaulters signs up for the requisite number of jobs based on the number of vaulters participating in a competition. Act as a liaison between the competition volunteer coordinator and our club
Event chair Lead the development of the annual MHV event calendar and coordinate planning of individual events
Farrier Trim vaulting horses on a regular schedule (farrier experience required)
Publicist Work with the event chair to schedule MHV clinics and public events. Work with local media to raise awareness about the club and the sport of vaulting
Music coordinator Receive music files from vaulters and upload to competition sites (FTP) according to specifications. Ensure all team music is loaded on the team iPod. Ability to edit music would be a big plus!
Team tailor Generally complete small sewing and/or craft projects such as repairs and new pad/sausage covers. A skilled tailer with the ability to sew uniforms would be a big plus!
Videographer/Photographer Take video and photos at practices and competitions for use on the website and for vaulter training

Have another idea about how you can help? Please let us know. We would love to consider what you have to offer. And, as you get more involved, there are longer-term volunteer opportunities available at the regional and national levels, as well.
